Five breathing support machines worth approximately 19 million forints have been donated to Semmelweis University\u2019s V\u00e1rosmajor Heart and Vascular Centre by MOL as a contribution to the healing work during the epidemic. The machines will remain at the Centre after the emergency situation has been revoked and will be used in the specialized training of doctors and healthcare workers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The donated respiratory support machines are to assist the breathing of patients with acute heart failure at the V\u00e1rosmajor Heart and Vascular Clinic. They can be used in several ways: to avoid the intubation and long-term ventilation of the affected patients, to provide oxygen therapy to patients who have been off the ventilator or to clear mucus by humidification.\u00a0<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n

\u201cWe know that the coronavirus can be particularly dangerous to patients with heart conditions. The respiratory aids donated by MOL provide high-flow oxygen, which can be very important for the recovery of such patients.\u201d, said Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely, Director of the Centre and Rector of Semmelweis University after viewing the devices at the intensive care unit of the Centre together with P\u00e9ter Ratatics, Managing Director of MOL Hungary.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a responsible company, MOL Hungary actively participates not only in the prevention and defence against the coronavirus but in its treatment as well. As part of this mission, we have donated five respiratory aids worth 19 million forints to the V\u00e1rosmajor Heart and Vascular Centre.\u201d, said P\u00e9ter Ratatics, Managing Director of MOL Hungary.<\/p>\n

At Semmelweis University\u2019s V\u00e1rosmajor Heart and Vascular Centre patients suspected of having coronavirus are treated in a separate intermediate unit, where all the equipment necessary for their treatment is available, including ventilators.<\/p>\n
