Researchers and affected PhD students are continuously monitoring the domestic and international situation related to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the related literature, and are collecting data in various research projects to learn more about the virus\u2019s mechanism and its spread geographically and in time. The university will also use the donation made by Katinka Hossz\u00fa to fund epidemiological analysis of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to help in some way in the current situation, so I asked rector Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely, who is also our team physician, what was the best way. Based on his recommendation, the Iron team (M\u00e1t\u00e9 Gelencs\u00e9r, Tam\u00e1s Bath\u00e1zi and myself) have donated HUF 1.5 million for coronavirus-related research to the Semmelweis University Foundation,\u201d Hossz\u00fa wrote in a Facebook post, calling on others as well to do the same if they can.<\/p>\n<div class=\"keretes\">If you wish to support the Semmelweis University Foundation, and pay personal income tax in Hungary, you can do this by <a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/alapitvany\/1-szazalek-felajanlas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">offering 1% of your income tax<\/a>, or you can make a bank transfer to the 11708001-20361060 bank account number. We appreciate any and every donation!<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Semmelweis University Foundation was established by Dr. J\u00e1nos Szent\u00e1gothai and Dr. Ott\u00f3 Rib\u00e1ri in 1992 to support the university\u2019s educational, health care, and research activities. The foundation undertakes public benefit activities and performs public functions in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention, health care and health rehabilitation, scientific activities, research, education, skill development, and the dissemination of knowledge.
