\u201cI feel that the building with its beautiful inner garden is not only my workplace, but a part of my home. My office\u2019s window overlooks the room that used to be a birth room of the hospital in Vas street and where my daughter was also born.\u201d said Edit Gergy\u00e9n\u00e9 F\u00f6ldi, Head of Maintenance at the Faculty of Health Sciences, who is attached to the building with several emotional ties.<\/p>\n

She knows every nook and cranny of the building as she was actively involved in the renovation and she was the one in daily contact with the contractors. She is proud to have worked on this project with Anik\u00f3 Plichta, director of clerks at the time, who had an important role in creating the building\u2019s style, colours and furniture.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great to see how the building was changing week by week. The evening before the first day of school in the freshly renovated building was exciting too, as we worked until very late to get everything in place.\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n

She is fond of the whole building, but her favourite place is lounge in the basement, nicknamed nursery, which was also designed by the director of clerks back then and where the walls were decorated by artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moment you enter this colourful and cheerful place, your mood is lifted. The lounge, primarily designed for students, is a meeting point and is always busy.\u201d, she said. She herself is happy to spend some time here. \u00a0<\/p>\n

She also has dear memories of the inner garden of the Faculty of Health Sciences that she also helped in creating its design and even planted seedlings. Although she rarely gets the chance to spend time outside, her office window overlooks the garden, which provides a soothing sight whenever she wants to relax. One of the intriguing features of the garden is the statue of a woman\u2019s belly and navel, symbolizing part of the education conducted at the faculty: midwifery and health visitor training.<\/p>\n

Edit Gergy\u00e9n\u00e9 F\u00f6ldi has been working at the Faculty of Health Sciences for 33 years, where she initially worked as a department administrator and later on as head of a secretariat. She was appointed Head of Maintenance after the refurbishment of the building in Vas street in 2001. She is primarily responsible for the aesthetic appearance of the building, but her job involves a lot of other things: she supervises the ground keeping of the garden, the cleaning, manages all the paperwork of classroom rentals and is responsible for instrument management and the inventory. She loves the new challenges of her job, as she has never been the type of person, who could sit still.<\/p>\n
