The library of the Department of Medical Imaging is a special place for Dr. \u00c1d\u00e1m T\u00e1rnoki and Dr. D\u00e1vid T\u00e1rnoki, associate professors for various reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs students, we had our first radiology practice in the very same library, which looked more or less the same decades ago and already had a unique atmosphere. We spent a lot of time here during our university years and we could follow lessons on slide projectors.\u201d Dr. \u00c1d\u00e1m T\u00e1rnoki said.<\/p>\n

Their in-house PhD defense took place here, which also evokes fond memories. It makes them feel proud to know that their professional life started in this library and now it is their students who are working to build their career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe library is still and important part of our lives; we gather here every morning to listen to the referrals and present interesting cases. It is a great meeting point, where we have the chance to talk with each other before work.\u201d, they said.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n

Another interesting feature is the X-ray museum located in the hallway of library, which displays the technological innovations of X-ray tubes, including cathodes and anodes from the 1920\u2019s and 1930\u2019s. The technology has changed a lot since then: digital images have replaced images on films, X-ray tubes have become smaller and less radiation is used, while images are sharper.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy personal favourite is the old \u201ctreasure chest\u201d, which holds old contrast agents that have been spared for demonstration. I use these to show students how contrast-enhanced X-ray examinations worked.\u201d, Dr. D\u00e1vid T\u00e1rnoki said.<\/p>\n

Dr. \u00c1d\u00e1m T\u00e1rnoki and Dr. D\u00e1vid T\u00e1rnoki have been working at the department for over ten years. \u00c1d\u00e1m is the representative of German studies, while D\u00e1vid is responsible for the English studies. They also prepare students of the Students\u2019 Scientific Association and PhD students and lead PhD courses. They also take part in research: currently a population-based twin registry is being developed by collecting data from all the twins in Hungary and performing various tests, including epigenetics and microbiome studies.<\/p>\n
