At the meeting, following the decision of the body, rector Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely presented outgoing chancellor Dr. Sz\u00e1sz K\u00e1roly with a Pro Universitate Award, and recognized two of his colleagues with awards as well.<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/12\/106531_transform.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-19798\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/12\/106531_transform.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"351\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/12\/106531_transform.jpg 2248w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/12\/106531_transform-400x243.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/12\/106531_transform-900x548.jpg 900w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/12\/106531_transform-753x458.jpg 753w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 351px) 100vw, 351px\" \/><\/a>At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely introduced the two new members of the Consistory of Semmelweis University: Dr. R\u00f3za Nagy, chief advisor to the president of the Hungarian National Bank, and G\u00e1bor Orb\u00e1n, CEO of Richter Nyrt. The Consistory will continue to be led by professor emeritus Dr. Zolt\u00e1n Nagy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2019\/11\/outgoing-chancellor-dr-karoly-szasz-receives-pro-universitate-award\/\">At the proposal of the rector, the Senate awarded outgoing chancellor Dr. K\u00e1roly Sz\u00e1sz, who leaving his post as of November 30, 2019 and will in the future be taking on a leading role within the Ministry for Innovation and Technology, with a Pro Universitate Award.<\/a> The duties of the chancellor will be performed starting from December 1, 2019 by financial director Baumgartnern\u00e9 Ir\u00e9n Holl\u00f3, acting as vice-chancellor for general affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate also made decisions on renewing the mandate of permanent committees at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and on the election of new members to various other committees. The body also decided on modifications to the rules and regulations concerning awards, creating two new awards: the \u201cRecognition of the Rector and the Chancellor\u201d is to be awarded jointly by the two university leaders, while in connection with vocational schools joining the university earlier this year, an award for \u201cSemmelweis University Outstanding Vocational School Teacher\u201d was also created.
