{"id":15744,"date":"2019-02-04T12:20:22","date_gmt":"2019-02-04T11:20:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=15744"},"modified":"2019-02-16T10:39:25","modified_gmt":"2019-02-16T09:39:25","slug":"ignac-semmelweis-statue-unveiled-in-geneva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2019\/02\/ignac-semmelweis-statue-unveiled-in-geneva\/","title":{"rendered":"Ign\u00e1c Semmelweis statue unveiled in Geneva"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On the occasion of the 200<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Ign\u00e1c Semmelweis\u2019 birth, a bust was placed in the centre of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, in honour of the Hungarian physician.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_2806-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15776\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_2806-4-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_2806-4-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_2806-4-900x600.jpg 900w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_2806-4-753x502.jpg 753w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_2806-4-203x135.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>At the unveiling ceremony, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/dg\/speeches\/detail\/unveiling-of-semmelweis-statue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus<\/a>, Director General of WHO, and Dr. Orsolya Pacsay-Tomassich, Secretary of State for International Affairs at the Ministry of Human Capacities on behalf of Dr. Mikl\u00f3s K\u00e1sler, praised the merits of the Hungarian physician, known as the saviour of mothers worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The unveiling of the Semmelweis statue was attended by the heads of delegation of the 144<sup>th<\/sup> session of the WHO Executive Board, as well as members of the UN delegations, and senior officials of WHO.
