This year, the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Dermatooncology celebrated its 125th anniversary. A closing meeting for Memorial Year was held, where they reviewed the most important events of 2018 and reported on the results of their series of educational lecture programmes.<\/p>\n

At the Semmelweis Salon, Dr. Mikl\u00f3s S\u00e1rdy, director, welcomed guests, and Dr. P\u00e9ter Holl\u00f3, deputy director, summarized the major events of the 125th anniversary. The events of the Department of Dermatology partially coincided with the events of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the Day of Hungarian Science, and the Semmelweis Memorial Year. The year\u2019s celebration began with a jubilee session, and during the year, a Memorial Tree was planted as a tribute to Dr. Lajos N\u00e9k\u00e1m, and two memorial benches were built in honor of two former directors of the Department, Dr. Ern\u0151 Schwimmer and Dr. Ferenc F\u00f6ldv\u00e1ri. They also organized an exhibition, presented the F\u00f6ldv\u00e1ry Prize, as well as published a book recounting the 125-year history of the Department, said Dr. P\u00e9ter Holl\u00f3.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the highly popular public lecture series on sun protection, melanoma, sexually transmitted diseases, cosmetology, psoriasis and allergies. The \u201cSkin Guards\u201d lecture series for high school students sold out every session, said the deputy director, who also mentioned that the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Dermatooncology participated in the Researchers\u2019 Night, as well as provided informational brochures for the general public. At the end of his review, Dr. P\u00e9ter Holl\u00f3 extended his thanks to the Department\u2019s colleagues and sponsors.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Dr. Mikl\u00f3s S\u00e1rdy specially highlighted high schools with the highest number of student representatives enrolled in the Skin Guards lecture series. A certificate in preventative health education was awarded to the BGSZC Ferenc Sz\u00e1sz Secondary School of Commerce, BGSZC Istv\u00e1n Sz\u00e9chenyi Commercial Secondary School, the Ferenc Moln\u00e1r Bilingual Studies Elementary School and the BVHSZC M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Szamos Secondary School.<\/p>\n
