The university has various student groups that organize a variety of scientific, cultural, and sporting events. The Students\u2019 Union (H\u00d6K)<\/a> is primarily involved in representing student interests and also plays an active role in organizing events.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n

Semmelweis Spring Festival<\/h4>\n

The two-day spring event showcases a variety of artistic disciplines (Contest of Virtuosi, \u2018Alkoss!\u2019 Literary Competition, Dance Competition, and Poetry Recitation Competition). For all those who are curious about the winners, we recommend the closing event, the Charity Gala.<\/p>\n

Semmelweis Carnival<\/h4>\n

The aim of the program is to bring students of different nationalities from the university closer together. Several student organizations are working together to organize the university\u2019s spring multicultural event. At its accompanying event, the Food Festival, 20 different countries present their national dishes year after year.<\/p>\n

Semmelweis Matin\u00e9<\/h4>\n

Semmelweis Matin\u00e9 is an outdoor event where interactive outdoor games, sporting events, prize draws and quizzes await the audience. It is a great opportunity to meet students from other faculties, play sports or chat with newly met fellow students.<\/p>\n

MEDIC ORCHESTRA<\/a><\/h4>\n

Mainly students of Semmelweis University play in the Medic Orchestra, but besides them, students of other Hungarian higher education institutions (BME, BCE, BGF, ELTE) are involved as well. The orchestra regularly performs individual concerts, but is also a frequent participant in university events.<\/p>\n

Semmelweis University Choir<\/h4>\n

Founded in 2022, the Semmelweis University Choir has successfully represented the university at several prestigious occasions and has raised the tone of numerous university events, in collaboration with the Medic Orchestra. The choir is directed by conductor, music educator Dr. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Matos, Deputy Dean of Education at Andr\u00e1s Pet\u0151 Faculty, who has more than 30 years of experience in choir organisation and conducting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Entertainment<\/a><\/p>\n

Life for Semmelweis University students is more than just studying. The Students’ Union (H\u00d6K)<\/a> organises a number of programs and events, which are very popular with both Hungarian and international students. Semester Opening Party<\/h4>\n

The first big music and dance night of the semester, for all students regardless of their academic year. Hosted by Akv\u00e1rium Klub, the event entertains up to 3,000 participants in three halls, with three different styles of music.<\/p>\n

Viva La Fiesta<\/h4>\n

Highly popular among international students, this party series aims to bring to listeners the greatest world-famous Latin, hip-hop and R’n’B beats.<\/p>\n

Oktoberfest<\/h4>\n

Building on its Bavarian roots, Oktoberfest offers students a range of traditional fairground attractions. Never short of beer and pretzels!<\/p>\n

Halloween<\/h4>\n

Every year there comes a night when students dress up in the creepiest costumes and flood the streets and nightclubs of Budapest.<\/p>\n

White Coat Ceremony afterparty\u00a0<\/h4>\n

One of the most dignified moments of medical students entering their clinical studies is when they take over their white coats as a sign of the well-deserved success of their work. After this ceremonial handover, students attend an unforgettable afterparty, where they can toast to their success.<\/p>\n

All Star<\/h4>\n

In keeping with the name \u2019All Star\u2019, each semester the night event series features a number of well-known Hungarian music artists to guarantee brilliant entertainment.<\/p>\n

Semester Closing Party<\/h4>\n

The last music and dance night of the semester, where students can party together before the exam period starts.<\/p>\n

Exam Burial<\/h4>\n

The event is a chance for students to talk through recent hardships and have fun together in celebration of their exam successes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Freshers\u2019 Meet<\/h4>\n

The first event where newly admitted students can get to know each other after the entrance exam result announcement. The event at the Center for Theoretical Medicine (EOK) starts with a quiz and a playful introduction. During the afternoon, freshers can get a glimpse of everyday life at the university and have their questions answered by upper-year students. The representatives of the Students’ Union and the organizers of the freshers’ camp will also introduce themselves and share loads of useful information. The event continues with a night of dancing.<\/p>\n

Freshers\u2019 Camp\u00a0<\/h4>\n

The Semmelweis Freshers\u2019 Camp, organized jointly by the Students\u2019 Union (H\u00d6K) and the Instructor Self-Active Group (I\u00d6CS), is held every year in mid-August in the picturesque city of Tata. Thanks to the program, many friendships are born, which can even last a lifetime.
\nNewly admitted students will receive an invitation from the camp organizers and the Freshman Guide<\/a>\u00a0together with the first information letter sent out by the University. The invitation includes important details about the camp, how to apply, and the contact information of camp organizers and faculty leaders. During the Forum Day, you could also get to know the rector, deans and some faculty members.<\/p>\n

Freshman Ball\u00a0<\/h4>\n

Every freshman can experience the transformation of the Nagyv\u00e1rad Square Theoretical Block into a magical place. The ball\u00a0will be opened by a solemn waltz of the newly admitted international and Hungarian students and closed by the traditional \u2019palot\u00e1s\u2019 dance. Several well-known bands and DJs ensure a great atmosphere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sport Events<\/a><\/p>\n

The university’s health education program is complemented by a range of student sporting events.<\/p>\n

NET Tower Running<\/h4>\n

Held each semester, the brave competitors of the Nagyv\u00e1rad Square Theoretical Block conquer the stairs of the 22-storey NET building. For several years now, the event has been accompanied by a charity campaign: the registration fee is usually a few bars of chocolate, sweets and toys, which is donated to the young patients of the Semmelweis University Pediatric Center.<\/p>\n

Ice Carnival<\/h4>\n

At the Semmelweis Ice Carnival, costumed students will take to the City Park Ice Rink, where participants will compete in a relay race. Learning ice skaters can also enjoy a non-competition evening on ice.<\/p>\n

Sports Day, Matin\u00e9<\/h4>\n

The Sports Day, also known as Matin\u00e9 is hosted by the Z\u00e1gr\u00e1bi Road Sports Complex. Students from all six faculties can get some exercise, while fans can enjoy food, drinks and a ‘chill zone’. From time to time, students can also try exciting ‘sports’ such as bubble football or beer pong.<\/p>\n

Medic Cup<\/h4>\n

One of the most eagerly awaited events of the academic year is the Medic Cup, where students from four medical universities across the country compete against each other. Each year, the three-day event is hosted by one of the four university cities. Fans can cheer on the men’s and women’s football, volleyball, handball, basketball, and water polo teams.<\/p>\n

Sleepless Semmelweis<\/h4>\n

The event is an overnight sports day, during which students can test their skills in teams in football, basketball, and volleyball. The top three teams will be awarded. Fans can enjoy skills challenges and a fairground atmosphere.<\/p>\n

SPORTS DIVISIONS<\/a><\/h4>\n

Since 2021, Semmelweis University has been offering a number of sports divisions for active recreation, a healthy lifestyle and competition. These also include special sports such as Teqball and Ultimate Frisbee.<\/p>\n

The Semmelweis University Water Polo Club is a constant participant in national and international championships, tournaments and cups, winning more and more titles. Their matches attract a large student audience.<\/p>\n

Beer Pong Tournament<\/h4>\n

The popular event allows students with surgical precision shooting hands to test their aiming and shooting skills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
