HAI-SO Project<\/h3>\n

Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Healthcare<\/h5>\n

The HAI-SO project has been launched under the leadership of the Health Services Management Training Centre (EMK) of the Faculty of Health and Public Services at Semmelweis University<\/strong>. Supported by the 2025 HU-Rizont program<\/strong>, the project explores how methodologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) and large-scale data analytics can be applied to comprehensively optimize healthcare systems and hospital operations. The initiative focuses on strengthening data-driven decision-making, improving the efficient use of resources, and enhancing the quality of patient care.<\/p>\n

The project builds on Hungary\u2019s advanced eHealth infrastructure, particularly the data assets of the National eHealth Infrastructure (EESZT)<\/strong> and the National Health Insurance Fund Administration (NEAK)<\/strong>. HAI-SO integrates these data sources with cutting-edge AI-based solutions developed by leading international academic partners, enabling their refinement, validation and pilot implementation within the Hungarian context. The developments aim to improve healthcare operations, including resource allocation, decision-making, patient pathways and patient outcomes.<\/p>\n

The HAI-SO project is implemented through close international collaboration, with methodological developments carried out by the PIAS-Lab research group<\/strong> at Harvard University<\/strong> and the MIGHTE laboratory at Northeastern University<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The integration of these developments into the domestic data infrastructure is coordinated by Semmelweis University under the professional leadership of Dr. Mikl\u00f3s Sz\u00f3cska<\/strong>, Director of EMK. As part of the project, international pilot studies will be conducted in Hungary and the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the Prague University of Economics and Business<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The project places strong emphasis on developing domestic research capacities by supporting the training and mentoring of Hungarian professionals, as well as facilitating international knowledge transfer. Its long-term goal is to develop a scalable model that enables the sustainable integration of artificial intelligence into healthcare systems, supported by appropriate policy frameworks and international benchmarking.<\/p>\n

Through the HAI-SO project, EMK not only contributes to the development of the Hungarian healthcare system but also plays a key role in advancing data-driven, AI-based healthcare solutions at the international level.<\/p>\n
