{"id":14003,"date":"2019-04-03T10:15:54","date_gmt":"2019-04-03T08:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/emk\/?page_id=14003"},"modified":"2025-09-05T15:23:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T13:23:22","slug":"about-health-services-management-training-centre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/emk\/en\/about-health-services-management-training-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"About the Health Services Management Training Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>THE BEGINNINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">30 years ago a couple of system changer young professionals realized that there is an urgent need for a training institute of health management in Hungary. Today these young committed people are called as Directors, Deans, and Deputy Directors, while the dreamed and so far internationally recognised Institute is called: Health Services Management Training Centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>HISTORICAL MILESTONES OF HSMTC<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>1993<\/strong>\u00a0The idea and conception of the founders was supported by the <strong>Tempus Project<\/strong>. Thus the preliminary professional work and the development of teaching materials was initiated.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>1995<\/strong>\u00a0The council of the Semmelweis University officially established the <strong>Health Services Management Training Centre<\/strong>. (HSMTC)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>1998<\/strong>\u00a0HSMTC was chosen to be the <strong>European and Central Asian Regional Partner Institute by the World Bank<\/strong>. The programs hosted and organized by the Institution was visited from 41 countries with apr. 1200 students.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>1999<\/strong>\u00a0The Centre moved&#8230; The wooden house serving as temporal home for the Institution was replaced by a modern building (equipped with XXI. century IT tools) located on the <strong>K\u00fatv\u00f6lgyi Street<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2000<\/strong> The Centre initiated and started as the first the auditor training and a preparatory course regarding the introduction of hospital standards.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2004<\/strong>\u00a0Accompained by the <strong>Hungarian Residents Association<\/strong> the HR migration research project was restarted, contributing to a successful accession to the international HR and migration research projects.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2005<\/strong>\u00a0Mandated by the Slovakian Health Ministry our experts implemented the education system of the HSMTC to the <strong>Slovakian health management trainings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2006<\/strong>\u00a0The <strong>European Health Management Association (EHMA)<\/strong> hold its annual Conference in Budapest. The Centre as an active EHMA member participated in the preparatory work as well as fulfilled organization and professional coordination duties.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2008<\/strong>\u00a0HSMTC organized the first <strong>Patient Safety Forum<\/strong>. The unique program series are still highly accepted and popular in Hungary.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2010<\/strong>\u00a0In 2015, the <strong>Faculty of Health- and Public Services<\/strong> was established in collaboration with the Mental Hygiene Centre, the Digital Health Sciences Institute and with the HSMTC.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2015<\/strong>\u00a0HSMTC was appointed to be the WHO Collaboration Centre in the field of HRH. The <strong>Health System Management and Patient Safety Department<\/strong> workgroups were established.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2016<\/strong>\u00a0The <strong>Quality and Patient Safety Manager<\/strong> training program was started.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2024<\/strong>\u00a0In January, the <strong>Department of Health Policy, Financing and System Development<\/strong> and the <strong>Department of Patient Safety<\/strong> were established, the latter as the successor to the former Division of Patient Safety.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2024<\/strong>\u00a0In September, we launched our Master\u2019s programme in <strong>Data Science in Health<\/strong>, which is unique in Hungary.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2025<\/strong>\u00a0In February, we launched our Master\u2019s programme in H<strong>ealth Care Quality And Patient Safety Management<\/strong>, which also incorporates the knowledge base of the former specialised training programme in Quality and Patient Safety Management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2025<\/strong>\u00a0In September, our Master\u2019s programme in <strong>Integrated Social Services Management<\/strong> will be launched, building upon and further developing the curriculum of the former specialised training programme in Social Services Management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>LET&#8217;S FLY WITH THE LIGHT!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Einstein was right, gravity waves are insisting indeed. According to the phenomenon known as twin paradox if two people born in the same time will sit next to each other &#8211; time will elapse likewise. However, if one keeps sitting meanwhile the other person starts to move in the space the one who is sitting becomes older.
