The laboratory investigates the mechanism and consequences of Ca2+ -mediated signal transduction. The control of mitochondrial Ca2+ metabolism has been in the focus of its interest for nearly two decades. Presently experiments are running with the aim of elucidating the mechanism by which p38 MAPK and novel protein kinase C isoforms modify the mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake.
