The Digital Dental Team of the Department of Prosthodontics has been researching digital dentistry since 2011, focusing on digital tooth color determination, digital impression techniques, and intraoral scanners. Over the past 12 years, our study group has carried out numerous scientific studies, the results of which have been published in international journals (you can find these publications under the „Publications” menu). We have explored the accuracy of traditional and digital impression techniques the effectiveness of digital tooth color determination methods, and defined the learning curve for intraoral scanners. We have presented our research findings and practical experiences at numerous Hungarian and international events. We are developing an educational program on digital impression systems and the related CAD\/CAM workflows. Furthermore, our research has been essential in integrating intraoral scanners into the Semmelweis University Department of Prosthodontics undergraduate education.<\/span><\/p>\n

Integrating digital impression tools into everyday clinical practice poses new challenges and goals for dentists. Significant progress has been made since the appearance of intraoral scanners, especially in recent years. Several new intraoral scanners and new generations of devices have appeared on the dental market. Another important practical consideration is software updates, which also affect the characteristics\/properties of the device. There has been increased interest among Hungarian dentists in intraoral scanners, and in recent years, several new intraoral scanners have also been released in Hungary. However, relevant literature data on available intraoral scanners are limited, we mainly have information provided by the manufacturing company. The properties of intraoral scanners determine their main indication area and their application in clinical practice – therefore, understanding these two criteria is essential before investing in a new device. The objective comparative examination conducted by the Digital Dental Team \u00a0of the Department of Prosthodontics helps determine the main indication area of intraoral scanners available in Hungary, thus guiding practicing dentists. Through our research results and website, we aim to assist dentists considering purchasing an intraoral scanner by highlighting the main factors to consider before investing.<\/span><\/p>\n
