In addition to traditional statistical analyses, we employ advanced mathematical and computational methodologies to address biomedical research questions, with a particular focus on methods in computer vision, natural language processing, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and network science. Our Institute is committed to actively promoting interdisciplinary collaborations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>our objective:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our goal is to facilitate the rapid and effective translation of innovative solutions developed jointly by physicians, healthcare professionals, biostatisticians, data scientists, and network scientists into clinical practice.<\/p>\n<h5>Our research collaborations:<\/h5>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>\n<p><strong>Collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/tmk\/\">Translational Medicine Center (TMC)<\/a>:<\/strong><br \/>\nSince early September, we have developed a successful partnership with TMC under the leadership of Prof. Dr. P\u00e9ter Hegyi. We contribute to two international studies focusing on imaging data analysis of adult patients with acute pancreatitis. Additionally, we have developed a machine learning-based web application as part of TMC\u2019s Pineapple project, aimed at predicting the severity of pancreatitis in pediatric patients.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Development of Predictive Algorithms for Gastrointestinal Bleeding Severity:<\/strong><br \/>\nIn collaboration with Dr. B\u00e1lint Er\u0151s, Deputy Clinical Director of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/pbi\/\">Institute for Pancreatic Diseases<\/a><\/strong>, and his doctoral student, we have developed machine learning algorithms to predict the severity of gastrointestinal bleeding.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><strong>Pharmacovigilance Project with the <a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/pharmacology\/en\/\">Institute of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy<\/a>:<\/strong><br \/>\nTogether with Dr. Bence \u00c1gg and his team, we initiated a project exploring the application of natural language processing methods in drug safety assessment. \u00a0\u00a0 <br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Stroke Rehabilitation Research:<\/strong><br \/>\nIn cooperation with G\u00e1bor Szab\u00f3, a clinical psychologist at the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rehabint.hu\/oldal\/home\/eng\">Rehabilitation Clinic<\/a><\/strong>, we are investigating the cognitive driving abilities of stroke patients. This research examines the potential integration of machine learning tools to analyze cognitive test results.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Meta-Analysis of Success Factors in Health and Biotechnology Startups:<\/strong><br \/>\nWorking alongside Dr. Ren\u00e1ta Papp, Director of the Vice Rectorate for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/research\/\">Research, development and innovation<\/a><\/strong>, and her doctoral student, we are conducting a meta-analysis to identify the success factors of health and biotechnology startups.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The primary objective of the Institute of Biostatistics and Network Science is to analyze large-scale biomedical and health sciences data generated both within healthcare institutions and systems, as well as through the Institute\u2019s own data collection efforts.
