Dear Sir/Madam,
From Tuesday the 2nd until Friday 5th of June 2009 the
16th edition of the International Student Congress of Medical
Sciences (ISCOMS) will take place at the University Medical
Center Groningen (UMCG), the Netherlands.

About us

ISCOMS is organized annually, since 1992, by medical students for students
from around the world, in cooperation with the UMCG. The UMCG is one of
the best hospitals in the Netherlands. At the ISCOMS students can present their
research either as a moderate poster, as an oral presentation or as a plenary
presentation. Accompanying the presentations we offer a broad range of workshops
and lectures from key-note speakers. Students can visit the congress either as a
presenting participant or as a non-presenting participant. Furthermore, there is an
extensive social programme.

Last year

ISCOMS is a truly international congress: in 2008, 706 students from 54 different countries
attended the congress.

This year

In 2009 our aim is to attract a higher quality of research from an even wider range of countries.
We are proud to present two Nobel prize winners as key-note speakers this year! Prof. dr.
Ferid Murad and Prof. dr. Robin Warren will both give an interesting lecture at our congress.
This year we pay special attention to the expansion of our dentistry programme.

Opportunities

To make the congress more accessible for international students, presenters can apply for
a travel grant. These will be awarded to a selected number of students. The ISCOMS also
offers you the possibility to participate in a two-week research fellowship (IRF) following the
congress at one of the research institutes in the UMCG.

For more information you can visit our website www.iscoms.com or you can contact us by
email: iscoms@med.umcg.nl.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,
