A Wizz Air plane arrived in the capital city of Hungary early in the morning carrying 30 050 protective suits and 82 000 medical masks. The equipment will primarily be delivered to health care workers. The procurement was carried out by Semmelweis University on behalf of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. 

The protective equipment ordered by the Hungarian government arrived in Budapest on 23rd March 2020 early in the morning. The crew of the most advanced Wizz Air aircraft took off on 20th March to travel 9 000 kilometres over 6 countries in 50 hours to reach Shanghai and to carry nearly 11 tons of medical supplies to Budapest. The Wizz Air plane carrying 30 050 protective suits and 82 000 medical masks from Shanghai to Budapest was received by Tamás Schanda, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Balázs Gazsó, State Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University.

Protective equipment is important in the fight against the coronavirus and the government is making efforts to increase the amount of medical supplies. The current procurement was made by Semmelweis University upon the request of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. Another shipment of medical equipment is arriving in Hungary in the near future. The equipment will primarily be distributed among health care workers, who need special attention and for whose service we are all grateful.
