A ministerial delegation from Kosovo, led by Anila Statovci-Demaj, Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology visited Semmelweis University. The purpose of their official stay in Hungary was to sign a bilateral agreement with the Ministry of Human Capacities in the field of higher education.

RS43874_TZ_20160129_255-scrThe delegation was received by Dr. György Bagdy, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, who briefly introduced Semmelweis University, its English and German language programmes and statistics regarding education and the number of students.

“We have signed an agreement with the Ministry of Human Capacities on launching a scholarship programme, which will enable our students of agriculture and medicine to study in Hungary.” . Anila Statovci-Demaj said.

In the field of medicine and health care three students from Kosovo can study in Hungary with the help of the programme.

Dr. Péter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs gave a detailed account of the university’s academic programmes, the application procedure and the requirements which are of high level in case of both Hungarian and foreign students.

“Semmelweis University’s School of PhD Studies, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences still have some free capacities to receive students from Kosovo, however the details have to be discussed with the respective faculties.”, Dr. Pop Marcel, Director of International Relations said.RS43868_TZ_20160129_233-scr

“One of the most popular faculties in Kosovo is that of pharmacy, therefore there are several times more applications than available seats.”, the deputy minister said.

Thus, Stipendium Hungaricum, the Hungarian scholarship programme would create a great opportunity for talented students to start their studies at Semmelweis University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

“Further opportunities present themselves with the involvement of the Faculty of Health and Public Administration, which is the most outstanding centre of health care management in the Central European region.”, Dr. György Bagdy added. 

The meeting was concluded by the mutual agreement of both parties on the appointment of contact persons from both sides. In order to facilitate the application procedure, Semmelweis University is to send an information leaflet about the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Faculty of Health and Public services to Hysen Bytyçinek, official contact person of the scholarship programme on behalf of Kosovo.
