Professional Career

Beáta Dávid is a professor and director of the Institute of Mental Health since 2013. Coordinator of the sociological doctorate program of Mental Health Sciences and vice-dean of Scientific and Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Health and Public Services of Semmelweis University. She is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, Eötvös Loránd University. She is the research chair at the Centre for Social Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences Centre of Excellence. Since 2011 she is the president of HUNNET, Hungarian Network for Social Network Analysis, and the board chair of Home Start Hungary since 2016.

She holds an MA Degree in Sociology and in English Language and Literature, and graduated at Eötvös Loránd University in 1992. Her research interests include social network analysis, social capital, sociology of health, family, and ethnicity; wrote several books and papers, so far three published in Social Networks, one of the most prestigious journals in social network analysis.

She was in the Editorial Board of EJMH since her directorship at the Institute. She is determined that EJMH will be scored higher and reach an IF in a few years. To reach this goal she applies for all kinds of support, in 2022 for the first time she succeeded to get a significant subsidy from Semmelweis University to renew the journal. She believes in teamwork and she tries to encourage it through her editorial decisions to promote the development of the journal.
